How to Design Your Poster

- Pick a size — Nine standard sizes from 11x17 (US Tabloid) to 24x36 (large outdoor poster), plus A2, A3, A4, US Letter, custom. The canvas resizes and the zoom auto-fits.
- Add elements — Click + Text for words, + Image to upload your own photos and logos, + Rect for solid blocks, + Circle, + Line, + Star, + QR for QR codes. Every element is draggable, resizable, and selectable from the Layers panel.
- Customize the design — Click any element to edit its properties: font family (12 Google Fonts), font size, color, bold, italic, alignment, outline, shadow for text. Stroke and fill for shapes. Image fit mode for pictures. QR data for codes.
- Layer management — Bring elements forward, send back, duplicate, or delete them from the Layers panel. The order in Layers matches the visual stacking order on the poster.

Can I use my own images?
Yes. Click the + Image button to upload JPG, PNG, WebP, or SVG files. Images appear as draggable elements that you can resize, reposition, layer, and delete. Your images never leave your device.
How do I add a QR code?
Click the + QR button, edit the QR Data field in the right panel, and a QR code element is added to your poster. You can resize it like any other element. The QR code is generated client-side and the data is not sent to any server.
Can AI chatbots design posters?
AI chatbots can suggest layouts and color schemes but cannot run a real WYSIWYG drag-and-drop editor with multi-element positioning, render text effects (outline, shadow, gradient) live at print resolution, embed QR codes, or export print-ready 300 DPI PDF files with exact poster dimensions. AI assistants also cannot preserve your uploaded images or fonts through deterministic PDF export. Our tool does all of this in your browser.
What file formats can I download?
Three formats. PNG at 300 DPI for print (industry standard). PDF as a print-ready vector document at exact poster dimensions for sending to a print shop. JPG at high quality for sharing on social media or email. All formats contain no tool branding.
Can I save my design and come back later?
Yes. Click Copy State to copy the design state as JSON to your clipboard. Paste it back anytime, or use Load State to restore the design from a saved JSON file. Nothing is sent to our servers.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. The editor is touch-friendly with on-screen controls for moving and resizing elements. For complex designs we recommend a tablet or desktop with a mouse.
Will my designs be saved or shared?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser using HTML5 Canvas. Nothing you design or upload is sent to any server. You can verify this by opening the browser DevTools Network tab while using the tool. There is zero data collection.
Tips for Designing a Great Poster
- Use the rule of thirds — Place your headline at the upper third, your main visual in the center, and your call-to-action in the lower third. This is the most readable poster layout.
- Pick one focal point — The headline should be the largest element. Images are secondary. Contact details and dates are tertiary. If everything is large, nothing stands out.
- Use high contrast — Dark text on light background (or light text on dark background) is the safest combination. Reserve bright accent colors for borders, separators, or a single word.
- Add a QR code — Posters work best when they lead somewhere. Add a QR code linking to your event page, ticket sales, or contact form. Our tool generates the QR code client-side, so the URL is never sent to a server.
- Choose the right size — 11x17 (US Tabloid) is the most common indoor poster size. 18x24 works well for storefront windows. 24x36 is the standard for outdoor advertising. Match your size to where the poster will hang.
- Test at print resolution — Always download the PNG at 300 DPI before sending to a print shop. Our export gives you exactly 300 DPI at the chosen size, so what you see on screen matches what comes out of the printer.
Standard Poster Sizes Worldwide
The default size in this tool is 11 x 17 inches (Tabloid / B-size / 279 x 432 mm), which is the most common indoor poster size in North America and the standard for lobby displays, community boards, and event announcements. 18 x 24 inches (457 x 610 mm) is the most popular window and storefront poster size. 24 x 36 inches (610 x 914 mm) is the standard for outdoor advertising and bus stop displays. In Europe the equivalent sizes are A2 (420 x 594 mm), A3 (297 x 420 mm), and A4 (210 x 297 mm). All 300 DPI PNG and vector PDF exports are high enough resolution for any of these sizes when printed professionally.
